Orion Item Tracking Trait options

When setting up Item Tracking Codes, there are some additional Orion specific options. Orion uses Traits for specialized attributes that can be assigned on either a document or an item tracking line level. You can add these options to the Item Tracking Code and they will follow through the item tracking records of the item entries for traceability, from initial in-entry to sale.

Trait Setup

Orion provides four global trait fields that act as custom attributes with assignable values. To set these up, search for Trait Setup.

First, click on the Captions tab to define a name for each of the traits (size, quality, or country of origin, for example).

Next, click on the Values tab and define all the available options for each trait.

Search for Item Tracking Codes and on the relevant Item Tracking Code Card, scroll to the Orion Tracking Options. Each of the defined traits can be setup and defined as to whether it should be added to the document line or to the item tracking lines.

Production Date Tracking - if this is toggled to on, then a Production Date will be required for posting any lines for an item with this tracking code assigned. The Production Date will default in as the user's work date.

External Lot Tracking - if this is toggled to on, then a External Lot will be required for posting any lines for an item with this tracking code assigned. The External Lot, once posted, will be added to the External Lot Master list.

Please note - Once an entries have been posted to the Item Tracking Code, these options cannot be changed.

Assigning Default Traits to an Item

From an Item Card, choose Related/Orion and navigate to the applicable trait:

This selection will take you to the Trait's values page. If you choose Copy from Trait Values, you will be able to move all of the trait values as applicable to the item.

You can then choose a default value for the item from the Item traits list for that trait.
