Select Open Inventory

Allocating specific inventory

Select Open Inventory pages allow you to easily allocate specific, item tracked inventory (inventory from a particular lot with specific traits/attributes) to sales orders, transfer orders, or negative adjustments in item journals.

How to allocate open inventory from an order or item journal

After creating an item line that requires a specific inventory allocation to preserve traceability, from the Line tab, choose Select Open Inventory.

All applicable existing item inventory is listed in the Open Inventory page.

Fill in the quantity to select the specific inventory to be allocated to the order. Use the checkbox to select an entire line. If the select action is unavailable, click Edit List first. You can use the filters at the top of the form to view only lines with a particular item trait or traits and/or a location.

After selecting the inventory, click Close. The selected inventory will be reflected in the Item Tracking view.

Note - It is also possible to just add an entirely blank item line to the order/journal and open the Select Open Inventory page to view all available inventory, sort by the filter options, and bring quantities of available inventory into the order. Using the form in this manner acts as an ATP (Available to Promise) screen to easily see what is needed to be sold and bring it into the sale rapidly.

Select Open Inventory Setup

The Open Inventory Setup page allows you to set which fields will be shown by default when selecting open inventory in the Open Inventory page.
